Join me in calling for the return of the market to the Market Square.
I want to see community-led cooperative action used to design a high street that works for everyone. Together we’ll grow our local economy creating a safe, secure and prosperous future for all our neighbours in Northampton.
Northampton has the most polluted air of any major town or city in the UK. It is now worse than London. One in every 20 deaths in Northampton is linked to air pollution.
We need radical action to protect people like me and you; the introduction of Healthy School Streets, pedestrianising and greening more local high streets and shopping parades, increasing the frequency of buses across the town, and sorting out dodgy pavements and pothole-filled roads throughout Northampton to encourage walking and cycling.
A vibrant business community in Northampton creates sustainable jobs and helps build community wealth in our town.
Join me in calling for more action to help small businesses in our town, including cutting business rates, new incentives to keep students in the town post-graduation and doubling the size of our co-operative economy.

In the first year of Labour being in power, we will form GB Energy. GB Energy will be a publicly owned energy company, putting low-cost green energy into the national grid. This will reduce your bills and end our reliance on energy from overseas.
We will invest the money to train new doctors and nurses, and I will fight to get proper investment in Northampton General, as well as increasing the number of GPs operating in our town.
Working in partnership with community groups, we’ll invest in making roads cleaner, safer for pedestrians and cyclists, cutting queues and supporting community-run bus companies. I will campaign to stop cars idling outside of schools and our hospital, protecting our kids and those who are unwell.
Mike led teams working with SCAPE, the public procurement body wholly owned by local councils in the East Midlands, to unlock new opportunities for small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) in the East Midlands.
He and his team established Perfect Circle, a joint venture which has delivered over £44 million of social value through construction projects and created opportunities for nearly 700 SMEs.
Over 1000 people trained and supported in expanding their understanding of the environmental challenges faced by construction, the introduction of a “pursue a sustainable world book club” to educate people on the climate crisis and the launching of green projects in the UK, Iceland, Singapore and North America. Mike’s dedicated to championing sustainability in the construction sector.
We clapped for our key workers during the pandemic, but now the government is making it more and more difficult for them to secure safe, affordable housing. Mike has been an advocate for simplifying and expanding access to key worker housing to those employed by private sector companies delivering public services.
A committed campaigner, Mike has supported all recent by-elections, supporting Simon Lightwood, Kim Leadbeater and Paulette Hamilton’s victories in 2021 and 2022. Mike led successful campaigns in East London to retain the directly elected Labour mayor. He was an active campaigner in Wellingborough before moving to Northampton.
