Building more high-quality retirement and later-living homes in town centres and established communities like Northampton will help older residents downsize into safe, accessible homes while staying close to shops, services and social networks. I argue that freeing up family homes for younger households, while reducing pressure on the NHS and social care, supports a healthier housing market and a stronger local economy in Northampton.
